Working at an Improv comedy club in the early 2000’s, right through the middle of the Latin Kings of Comedy era, we always looked forward to seeing Gabriel come through. A fun and humble guy with some great fans. It so happens that he’s also kinda into Funkos. As he describes on a Fallon appearance in May 2022, he was the key instigator in the development of the Pop! Comedians line. He’s since continued to promote these figures in appearances and through his social media presence.
There are several Fluffy Pop variants (both in mold and print). They all fall under the ‘comedians’ line. The release of this line in July of 2019 effectively sets up Fluffy as the first stand-up comic to have a Funko Pop, although I suppose you could argue that some earlier comedians represented in character form.
Let’s dive in and take a look at these Gabriel Iglesias Funko Pop! Vinyls and their many variants.
The Funko Pop! Comedians line
The Pop! comedians line started in and now covers three popular comics: Jeff Dunham, Jo Koy, and of course fluffy. I’d expect some more comics to join the line in the future, but only time will tell.
The Gabriel Iglesias Funko Pop!
The basic version of the Fluffy Pop! portrays Gabriel Iglesias in his natural state: goatee, denim shorts, button-up, and with that all-important mic propped up on his chest. Later installments portray Gabriel in various costumes and poses that we’ll cover just a little deeper in this article.
Gabriel Iglesias Funko Pop! Variants
I was able to find seven total variants of the Gabriel Iglesias Funko Pop! under three different molds. Some of these are pretty cool, and a couple are extremely rare. Four of those variants occur under the initial mold in the Comedians line, all holding that coveted position and box label #01. This mold is a that simple depiction of Fluffy holding a microphone you see at top. The two additional molds depict Iglesias with his dogs, and wearing a baseball cap respectively.
Let’s take a closer look…
#01 – Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias
This standard fluffy was released in 4 different color schemes, but the one pictured above is the basic scheme. Take a look at an unboxing to really get a feel for the figure.
#01 – Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias Rose Gold
The Rose Gold Fluffy is the most limited release with only 40 having been produced as a signed giveaway. It looks like most of these were given away at random to social media followers. It’s pretty tough to find any in the wild.
Gabriel himself complained about after-market sales of this specific figure on his Facebook account. Seeing prices topping $15,000 for this figure, a gift to fans, is a little ridiculous. Not sure if any really sold for this. It would be pretty sweet to catch one of these in the wild.
#01 – Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias Lucha
Ahhh, the lucha variant of the #01 mold. I have a special place in my heart for lucha libre personally, but that’s another story entirely. This variant was limited to 5000 pieces. This limited availability has certainly had some effect on pricing. These are a worthy catch if you can get your hands on one.
01 Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Dia de los Muertos
#01 – Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Dia de los Muertos
A super cool Dia De Los Muertos commemoration variant of the #01 mold. This variant was limited even further to 4000 pieces, making it the rarest of the #01 Fluffy figures that is not the impossibly rare rose gold fluffy.
#02 – Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias w/ Dogs
Alright, a different mold. This one depicts Gabriel with his two Chihuahuas, Vinnie and Risa, and wearing a t-shirt sporting his (eponymous?) catchphrase. Gabriel is known to take his dogs just about everywhere, including on the road, and even into his Funko line apparently. This figure was released July 28th, 2020.
#02 – Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias w/ Dogs Blacklight
The blacklight reactive variant of the Fluffy w/ Dogs, cheekily branded as ‘Dia De Los Fluffy’s Con Puppies’. Check it out under blacklight in all its glory on Fluffy’s FB page. I’m a bit of a sucker for the special paints. This thing just looks so cool in light or blacklight.
This figure appears to be exclusive to the Gabriel Iglesias website, but I have seen it in some after market auctions.
#08 – Stadium Fluffy White Jersey & Blue Jersey
And then there’s the baseball cap mold, commemorating Fluffy’s performances at Dodgers stadium on May 6th and 7th, 2022. The Pop was released March 24, 2022 and offered in 2 color schemas corresponding to the traditional variants of The Dodgers home and away colors. Gabriel was not only the first comedian to play Dodgers Stadium, he sold out 2 consecutive shows of 45,000 attendees. The performance was recorded for Netflix and released on October 18th, 2022.
I prefer the original microphone position personally. There’s just something about the tilt that really reminds me of the way Gabriel naturally props the microphone as he works. But if you’re a Dogers fan, go for it. I am not.
The Tapatio Collector’s Set
An honorable mention here goes to the Tapatio Man Funko Pop Collectors Set. This is a random one. It looks to have been dropped as a black Friday teaser in 2021. The collection was limited to 800 signed sets. The package includes 2 bottles of hot sauce with a custom Gabriel Iglesias label, a Tapatio Man #122 mold Funko Pop, signed by Gabriel, all packaged in a custom Fluffy branded collectors box. So yeah, A Tapatio Man in a fancy box.
Is the Gabriel iglesias Funko Pop Collectible?
This is a sweet collection. I’ll dig into the whole Comedians line eventually on this blog, and I’m sure it will expand over time, but the Gabriel Iglesias sub-line is easily the most compelling portion of the line to start with. There are some awesome exclusive variants, there’s the initial #01 release, and Gabriel has a huge and dedicated following.
